Our amazing STAR groups and supporters have been very busy during the COVID-19 pandemic by coming together to take part in different challenges and raise vital money for our charity.
In these difficult times, more than ever we appreciate the efforts of our network who despite the challenges they might have faced in their daily lives they have taken the time to inspire us all and work together for a more welcoming society for refugees and asylum seekers.
Virtual Marathon
It started with three amazing members of Sheffield Hallam STAR who took part in a virtual marathon who did a virtual marathon running and cycling to raise a total of £320 between them. They came up with this idea as they felt the lockdown wouldn’t stop them from supporting our charity and this was a way to carry on.

2.6 Challenge
Our trustee Edward’s and family took part in the 2.6 challenge and run 26 times around their garden and raised £194 for STAR. The challenge started after Edward told his daughter about the work STAR does and she asked a lot of questions about what STAR does and refugees. The super cute ‘’superheroes’’ as a family decided to take part in this adventure running around their garden and raise money for us. Donate to support these superheroes.
The amazing Izzy Rainbow from Northampton STAR did 26 squats every hour for 12 hours (wow our legs hurt even reading about that many squats) to raised £172 for STAR. She wanted to raise awareness about refugees and asylum seekers and also better herself through the challenge. Support Izzy.
Just love Brum ‘’climb’’ Everest
Some members of Just love Brum and members of Birmingham STAR worked out how many times they had to claim their stairs at home to amount with climbing Everest and completed the challenge in 14 days (This must have been a lot of stairs!). They have raised £1385 for our Equal Access campaign to give asylum seekers and refugees a better chance to access university in the UK.
The climb might be over but you can still support the Just Love Brum team.
Jump4STAR challenge
We are very excited to announce that more students and supporters will be taking part in a Jump4Star challenge starting this week to raise awareness for Equal Access to education. If you want to be part of the challenge you can sign up or if you would rather support in other ways you can share the link on your social media and donate if you can.
We are very proud of everyone who took part in these challenges and all their supporters who have donated!
