Over 80 universities offer scholarships, bursaries and fee waivers for people who have claimed asylum in the UK. Each scholarship has different eligibility criteria, application deadlines, and levels of financial support. Use the filters and search function to find a scholarship that suits you.

This list is compiled and updated by STAR, but the scholarships are administered by individual universities. To enquire about a scholarship or to make sure that you have the most up-to-date information, please contact the university that you are applying to.

New! You can also find information about scholarships and other support on Displaced Student Opportunities UK – a new online portal featuring opportunities that support refugees and people seeking asylum in the UK to access university.

Please note: If you have come to the UK through a resettlement scheme for Afghan nationals (ARAP or ACRS) or through visa routes for Ukrainians, you may not be eligible for these scholarships. Where scholarships specifically mention the Ukraine schemes or indefinite leave to remain, we have added this to the table below. If you are unsure, contact the universities to find out if your application will be considered.

For information about nationwide scholarships or grants, please look at our Additional financial support page.
