There are five STAR groups in the South West, including Bath, Bristol, Exeter, Gloucestershire and Plymouth.

University of Bath (Bath STAR)

At Bath STAR, we collaborate with Bath Welcomes Refugees by volunteering for their weekly Homework Club. We also run educational and social events for our members to raise awareness about issues surrounding refugees and asylum seekers, as well as to provide opportunities for members to meet like-minded people. University of Bristol (Bristol STAR)

Bristol STAR currently runs a conversation club twice a week to allow refugees and asylum seekers to practice their English in a safe and comfortable environment. We also run a Homework club to help children. Additionally, we are partnering with organisations around Bristol to run events for asylum seekers and refugees to express themselves. University of Exeter (Exeter STAR)

At STAR Exeter, we engage students in supporting local charities working with and for refugees in the UK via volunteering, fundraising and awareness campaigns. In the past, we have participated in initiatives like the Homework or Conversation Club but have also advanced out own campaigns and clothes drives like ‘Pop on Socks’. You can find us on Instagram!

University of Gloucestershire (Gloucestershire STAR)

At Gloucestershire STAR, we welcome students to become informed advocates for displaced people locally and around the world. We run fundraisers and campaigns throughout the year and work closely with local groups in Cheltenham and Gloucester. Last year we worked with our University of securing University of Sanctuary status. We’re always happy to receive new members, or answer any questions, so please reach out on our Instagram

University of Plymouth (Plymouth STAR)

At Plymouth STAR, we hold regular fundraisers and social events to benefit local refugee charities, provide volunteering opportunities, as well as campaign and advocate for refugee rights! Follow us on Instagram and please email us.
